We urge you to email, call, fax, or write each member of the Town Board to request their support for a six-month extension of the current moratorium and enactment of Local Law i. Ask them to support rezoning of the Rt. 85/85-A commercial district to a hamlet district that would require mixed (commercial and residential) uses and smaller-scale retail and commercial development. Some sample text follows on the next page. Personalizing the letter with your own thoughts and ideas would be welcome. SAMPLE LETTER:(Please send a copy of your letter to the attention of each of the contacts below) Town of New Scotland Or by fax: 518-439-8554 Dear Town Board and Planning Board Members:I am writing to strongly urge you to support Local Law B of 2010, the 50,000 sq. ft. single-building retail store size cap law for the commercially zoned area where the former Bender Farm is located on Routes 85 and 85A. We need to encourage smaller-scale retail, commercial, and other mixed use projects more suited to the character of the Town of New Scotland than any "big-box" development such as the one recently proposed. Sincerely, NameAddress Please send copies to each of the following, as well as New Scotlanders for Sound Economic Development so we can track public input: New Scotland Town Board:Tom Dolin, Supervisor -- Email:
